Barry Lee Myers has been an integral part and leading force of the AccuWeather management team for several decades. Since Myers became CEO in late 2007, the company has had the highest grossing years and largest global web and mobile audience growth, in its history. AccuWeather, with global headquarters in State College, PA, now reaches more than 1.5 billion people worldwide every day through smart phones, tablets, wired and mobile Internet sites, radio, television, newspapers and the AccuWeather Network cable channel, in addition to serving 245 of Fortune 500 companies and thousands of other businesses. Recognized as the most accurate source of weather forecasts and warnings in the world, AccuWeather saves lives and protects property through its Superior AccuracyTM. As CEO, Myers directs AccuWeather’s strategic initiatives, global expansion, acquisitions, major business relationships, and groundbreaking opportunities. He led the team that developed the major China expansion in association with the Chinese government. He is one of the world’s leading authorities on the business of weather, weather-related, and similar information, use, and distribution. He has been a featured speaker at many web, mobile, television, and advertising conferences, in addition to being an invited speaker at the World Meteorological Organization, the World Federation of Scientists, and many science and business organizations worldwide. In 2015, the American Meteorological Society (AMS) recognized him for his “outstanding, highly principled leadership of the American weather industry over five decades and fostering strong cooperation between private sector and government weather services.” In 2016, the AMS took the extraordinary step of naming him a Fellow of the AMS. Myers is on the Board of Directors of the American Weather and Climate Industry Association, the weather industry’s trade association, and is the industry’s Chief Government Relations Officer. He is on the board of the Weather Coalition. He has been advisor to five directors of the National Weather Service, a representative at the U.N.’s World Meteorological Organization, and advisor to U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He served as the company’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel prior to becoming CEO. He is a member of the AccuWeather Board of Directors. In addition, he served as a tenured member of the Graduate School faculty at Penn State for 18 years and as a member of its nationally recognized Smeal College of Business. Myers received his B.S. in business administration and economics and his master’s in business management and organizational behavior (ABD) from the Smeal School of Business at The Pennsylvania State University. He holds a J.D. from the Boston University School of Law.
