Form of jets of atmospheric pollutants over Moscow and the intensity of their source

A. B. Kazanskiy, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, Russia; and E. V. Fokeeva and M. A. Kallistratova

Methods are proposed to determine the form of the jet of atmospheric pollutants of anthropogenic origin over the city of Moscow and the position of its upper boundary in space. The sodar-measured values of wind speed and its vertical pulsation component are used. Methods are also proposed to estimate the CO concentration in the jet of atmospheric pollutants over a city on the basis of spectrometric measurements of the CO content within the atmospheric thickness and the intensity of the CO source in the urban medium.
