A comparison of common geospatial data model between AS and GIS communities
Yuan Ho, Unidata/UCAR, Boulder, CO; and J. Weber and J. Caron
Atmospheric scientific data has been stored and transferred using a variety of data formats. It has been a great challenge for the GIS user community to utilize the complex data collections from the atmospheric science community. At the same time, AS data formats cannot often match the richness of GIS georeferencing. This paper discusses the strengths and weaknesses of different data models, and discusses the interoperability of these models between two community's data systems.
