An extraordinary summer in the interior of Alaska (Formerly Paper Number P3.24)

Michael Richmond, NOAA/NWSFO, Fairbanks, AK; and T. L. Shy

A late spring and early summer of intense convection and locally record-breaking rainfall in interior Alaska was followed by drought and major wildland fire activity. This presentation will examine the events of May through July, 2004, describe the meteorological features causing the events, and documnet the magnitude of the anomalous weather for the period.
