Use of AMS Education Program Products in a cross-country, primary-elementary vertical grade collaboration
Freida D. Blink, Clark County School District, Las Vegas, NV, Las Vegas, NV; and S. K. Henke
Weather collaboration across the USA and across Grade Levels 1 and 5, using AMS Education Program DataStreme products, is being demonstrated. A first grade classroom in Las Vegas, NV, and a fifth grade classroom in Calumet City, IL, are using real-time products from the DataStreme-Atmosphere, Water in the Earth System (WES), and DataStreme-Ocean teacher enhancement courses. Mathematics and literacy competencies are enhanced and developed using the AMS products. Students are demonstrating understanding of weather concepts through collaborative multimedia projects. This collaborative activity is enhancing how the “No Child Left Behind” program and State Benchmarks and Standards are addressed in both states.
