Dr. Suki Manabe and me over five decades
This talk will describe as follows: My focussed awareness and fascination with Suki Manabe's early pioneering research well before I met him; his influence encouraging my move to GFDL; our scientific collaborations; his strong support of my GFDL research; our numerous joint brainstorming sessions; the uniquely friendly critiques of each other's draft research papers; the shared struggles for achieving scientific excellence, and relevance; the different decades when we oficially served as each other's "boss"; his pioneering and steadfast leadership on the global warming problem; and, finally, our gradual adjustments to the differing directions we have gone in our respective "semi-retirements".
