The Millersville University Student Chapter of the AMS has built a strong organization that has been beneficial to both the Millersville Meteorology program as a whole and the students involved in the organization. Throughout the years, we have attended and worked at the AMS Annual Meetings, as well as the Northeast Storms Conference presented by Lyndon State College. Our AMS chapter provides educational and social activities for the members to help strengthen their involvement in our meteorology program and their relationships with each other. This year we initiated a mentorship program to help ease the transition for new meteorology students into college life and into our rigorous meteorology program. Due to this mentor program, we have a record number of 84 members in our chapter this year. We have held an internship forum and career panel to show students what opportunities are available prior to and following graduation from Millersville. We also allow students to present their own undergraduate research at our meetings, as well as bring in other speakers to talk about their research. Through these activities, as well as others, we strive to provide opportunities and knowledge for our members that are not readily available in just the classroom.
