Evolving EO-1 Sensor Web Testbed Capabilities in Pursuit of GEOSS

Dan Mandl, NASA/GSFC, Greenbelt, MD; and S. W. Frye

A paper was presented on the EO-1 Sensor Web experiments at AMS 2005 in which we described how the Earth Observing 1 (EO-1) satellite was loosely integrated with other satellites and sensors to trigger more rapid imaging responses to science events. Since then we have continued to evolve the capabilities of the EO-1 Sensor Web as a pathfinder for required capabilities for Global Earth Observing System of Systems (GEOSS). In addition to adding capabilities and making use of additional satellites, we have pursued standards that would enable rapid integration of new space and ground assets into the Sensor Web. In this presentation we will describe the new activities that will help to enable the GEOSS vision. .
