Second Symposium: Toward a Global Earth Observation System of Systems—Future National Operational Environmental Satellite Systems

P1.3

NPOESS Environmental Data Records

Mike Haas, NPOESS IPO, Silver Spring, MD

The National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) is the next generation polar environmental satellite. NPOESS will transition from the current Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) and Polar Operational Environment Satellite (POES) program in the latter part of this decade. IN addition to sensed raw data, NPOESS will provide a suite of 53 end products known as Environmental Data Records or EDRs. These EDRs were developed by a multi-year process of requirements review with user communities and served as the basis for individual sensor designs. The poster will provide detail on the different products to include the sensors that provide the EDR, the disciplines they support, and how they can be obtained once NPOESS launches.
