Second Symposium: Toward a Global Earth Observation System of Systems—Future National Operational Environmental Satellite Systems

P1.18

CLASS NPP/NPOESS Data Archive and Access Overview

Richard G. Reynolds, NOAA/NESDIS, Silver Spring, MD; and J. J. Bates, C. Cremidis, and C. Martinez

NOAA has developed the Comprehensive Large Array-data Stewardship System (CLASS) to archive and provide access to the data from current satellite-based observing systems and ground-based observing systems. The CLASS project team is currently preparing for the ingest, archive, and distribution of the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) Preparatory Project (NPP) data and data products. CLASS will make NPP data accessible to users via the CLASS web portal. The poster will show where CLASS fits into the NPP/NPOESS program architecture. It also will show the planned CLASS network and hardware architecture for NPP. It also will show the functional capabilities available to NPP users, including the search functions and data delivery options.
