The principal source of ozone data products from NPOESS and NPP will be the Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS). OMPS will measure ozone total columns and profiles on the day side of each orbit. Supplemental information on the ozone total columns on both the day and night sides of each orbit will be provided by the Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS). The vertical measurement kernels, geographic sampling and coverage, prompt availability, and the expected quality of the different types of NPOESS and NPP ozone measurements will be described, along with the synergies they will enable. Additional ozone-related data products will result from intermediate steps in producing and assessing the quality of the ozone data products. The ozone-related data products will include aerosol and SO2 indices, and profiles of stratospheric aerosol extinction. The expected characteristics of the ozone-related data products from NPOESS and NPP will be described.
