The Advanced Weather Radar Techniques Product Development Team (AWRT PDT) is diverse and dynamic. It has implemented an enhanced National 3D radar mosaic that is updated every 5 min in real time and is developing new applications for polarimetric radar specific to aviation needs. Radar (convetional and polarimetric) input to numerical models initialzation is under consideration, as are new methods of evaluating the depth of the convective boundary layer in real time. All of these tasks are the result of AWRT response to the needs of the other AWRP PDTs.

This paper will explain, and provide some examples of, the products currently under development within the AWRT and how these products serve the broader needs of the AWRP and its clients.
