Numerical simulations of a one-dimensional cloud model are evaluated using a 4-ice microphysics scheme and a hydrometeor electrification scheme. The cloud model dynamics is based on the work of Ferrier and Houze (1989) with the cloud cold phase parameterized by Ferrier et al. (1994), where the cloud electrification is done by collision-rebound between the iced hydrometeors. The numerical simulations are compared with weather radar and lightning measurements collected in Brazil. Results showed that this model is able to produce a break down, and the following steps is to implement the continuous charging in order to observe several electrical discharges as in nature. The 1D electrification model is the first step for the future implementation of these collision-charge schemes in the Brazilian version of Regional Atmospheric Modeling System (BRAMS).
