Data from Vaisala's LDAR II network, centered in north Texas near Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, is being delivered in real-time to the National Weather Service Forecast office (WFO) in Fort Worth TX. Total lightning data from LDAR II can be displayed on AWIPS workstations at the WFO to aid forecaster decision making for critical products and services. This paper examines the utility of incorporating LDAR II information into the operational data stream at WFO Fort Worth during spring/summer 2005.
