Using multispectral (IR and MW) observations, an algorithm has been developed at CIMSS that estimates the current intensity of tropical cyclones (TCs). The consensus-based method uses output from the CIMSS AODT, the CIMSS AMSU, and the CIRA AMSU estimates of intensity. A weighted average is taken based on a statistical analysis of each algorithms situational behavior in TC events. Performance results will be shown.
