The radiative flux divergence was measured by the NCAR/ATD during
CASES99. We find a significant radiative flux divergence at night,
especially under weak wind conditions. The importance of the
radiative flux divergence will be examined by comparing its
magnitude with the vertical divergence of the sensible heat flux.
The influence of the radiative flux divergence on the performance
of Monin-Obuhkov similarity under stable boundary conditions will
be investigated.
