Influence of advection on carbon and energy fluxes at a forest on non-flat terrain
Xuhui Lee, Yale University, New Haven, CT; and X. Hu
The objective of this study is to investigate the influencce of advection on carbon and energy fluxes with the eddy covariance method at a forest on non-flat terrain in Connecticut, USA. Observation of the fluxes, within-stand profiles and general meterorology was initiated in May 1999 and has continued to date since then. The data collected is analyzed to quantify the advective influence due to the terrain bluff-body effect and that associated with mesoscale motions. Methods for separating real, biophysical signals from methodological artifacts are discussed.
