The characteristics of turbulent heat fluxes observed in the thermal stratification wind tunnel

Yasunobu Ashie, Building Research Institute, Ministry of Construction, Tsukuba, Japan

Wind velocity(u, w), air temperature, Reynolds stress(uw), turbulent heat flux(wT, uT), and the spectrum were measured in the thermal stratification wind tunnel. It is noticed that the values of Reynolds stress and turbulent heat flux are obviously small by the suppressive effect of stable flow. 1) Constant flux layer couldn't be observed in the vertical profiles. 2) Horizontal turbulent heat flux is greater than vertical one. 3) The existence of horizontal turbulent heat flux may be caused by the thermal shear in the vertical direction.
