HURRICANES -- THE "WOC" IN EWOC

Hurricanes are nearly always newsworthy. Especially so when they make landfall. 2005 was a special year for hurricanes in the United States.

This presentation takes a close look at all of the 2005 hurricanes, with a special emphasis on Hurricane Katrina. As well as stunning visualizations of the hurricanes from the Geostationary Earth Observing Satellite (GOES), water vapor will be shown. Visually you will ride along in the cockpit of one of the NOAA P-3 hurricane hunter aircraft as it penetrates the eye wall of Katrina.

A copy of this video and other hurricane education resources will be distributed to all EWOC attendees. Hurricanes embrace weather, ocean and climate -- this presentation will be the education component.
