Hydro-climate Research in the CIRES-NOAA Western Water Assessment
Martyn P. Clark, CIRES/Univ. of Colorado, Blulder, CO
Research as part of the CIRES-NOAA Western Water Assessment (WWA) focuses on the decision-making processes of the organizations in the Interior Western United States who manage water resources, use the water, and are responsible for its treatment and the protection of the aquatic environment. By understanding the decision making processes of this community, WWA researchers are developing experimental hydro-climate products that allow the user community to make more informed decisions. This presentation will summarize 1) the assessment of the sensitivity of different groups in the Interior West to climate variability and other stressors, 2) the needs for hydro-climate information by climate-sensitive groups in the Interior West, and 3) experimental hydro-climate products that have been developed to meet the needs of the WWA user community.
