Abstract

The research projects in the GAPP program will need to use grid analysis data from mesoscale models and they will also need data from global models. NCAR Data Support has operated a mesoscale model data center for the GCIP experiment during about 1996 – 2001. By Feb 2001, we had 737 GB in the mesoscale archive and had sent out 748 GB to users. NCAR proposes to do similar work for the GAPP experiment.

We propose to maintain archives of NCEP Eta operational data as done now. Also, we plan to archive the data from the Eta reanalysis (20 years, 32 km, 45 levels for North America). Data from at least one other mesoscale model will also be archived. Some of the GAPP research will require data from global assimilation systems. NCAR will also have these archives, as well as many datasets of observations. This proposal will concentrate on handling the data from about two operational mesoscale models, and the mesoscale reanalysis.
