The Effect of a Low-Level Boundary on the Development of the Panhandle, TX Tornadic Storm on 29 May 2001

On 29 May 2001 several supercells developed in west Texas ahead of a dryline. However, only the northern storm became a prolific tornado producer. Detailed radar and satellite analyses revealed this storm interacted with a surface boundary (produced by earlier convection) and became tornadic. Other supercells farther south were in higher CAPE air but failed to produce significant tornadoes. The authors will present a radar and satellite history of this event.
