A statistical evaluation of forecasting errors in numerical models for weather prediction of severe rainfalls events in Venezuelan coasts

Jaime E. Guerra, Universidad Nacional Experimental Maritima del Caribe, Estado Vargas, Venezuela; and I. Garcia, J. Jorge, and G. Jaimes

A type of regression method is using for evaluation of forecasting errors obtaining using numerical weather prediction techniques in treating severe rainfalls events in Venezuelan northern coasts. The numerical method presented is based in a finite difference system of equations whose solution approximates the solution of the barotropic primitive equations in a limited-area problem. Treatment of suitable boundary conditions are described.
