Airborne observations of aerosols and trace chemical species during T-REX

During T-REX the UK BAe 146 aircraft made dedicated flights over the Sierra Nevada range and the Owens Valley under rotor and gravity wave conditions in order to observe profiles and vertical exchange of trace chemical species. Measurements were also made of aerosols raised by downslope winds from the dry Owens Lake. We will focus on characterising the vertical profiles of species and aerosols and will attempt to interpret these profiles in terms of advection by the valley scale, gravity wave and larger scale flows.
