UK FAAM BAe-146 research flights during T-REX

An overview of the research flights conducted by the UK BAe-146 research aircraft during the recent Terrain induced Rotor Experiment (T-REX) will be presented. A wide range of scientific flights were conducted. These were: rotor/mountain-wave flights, cold pool flights, dust and chemistry flights, cirrus flights, aircraft intercomparisons and turbulence probe calibration flights. Data from the last two types of mission have been used to improve the accuracy of the aircraft measurements.

A range of results from T-REX will be presented. These will include measurements of the mountain waves during the rotor IOPs, data from the cold pool flights (which coincided with the EOP-1 and 2) and measurements of the dust and chemical constituents within the Owens Valley.
