An overview of the near surface flow and pressure patterns observed in the Owens Valley, during T-REX rotor and gravity wave IOPs, will be presented. Using data from a network of automatic weather stations and three flux towers, we will relate the observed lee-side flow variations downwind of the Sierra Nevada range to local variations in the surface pressure and heat flux. Radiosonde profiles obtained from a station located in the Owens Valley will be used to interpret the relationship of the boundary layer flow to deeper flow within and above the Owens Valley. Visualisation of the boundary layer flow fluctuations will be provided by Doppler lidar.
