A study of the sensitivity of modelled cyclic mesocyclogenesis to microphysics parameterizations was made using a three-dimensional cloud model. The control run used a Kessler warm-cloud microphysics parameterization. Additional model runs used a Lin, Farley, and Orville bulk ice microphysics parameterization with different constants. These constants represented large hail, regular hail, and graupel densities and particle size distributions. We will examine the differences between modelled storms and discuss strategies and implications for modelling.
