The relationship between the NWS and its partners has evolved and has become stronger over the last decade. With modern information technologies NWS Users have become more true Partners. Numerical Weather Prediction models can be easily accessed by the Public via the internet. The public is now well informed, in some instances instantaneously, as severe weather develops and tracks across local communities and the country. NWS needs a strong, vibrant partnership to keep data and services flowing. The Weather Enterprise has challenges, sorting out roles and responsibilities, and with frequent interactions can be resolved. The AMS recognizes the challenges we face and will take an active role in maintaining a strong, evolving weather enterprise. Immediate challenges include training meteorologists to use the new NWS digital services to improve local forecasting, for example, forecasting local boundary layer conditions.
NWS need all members of the nation's weather enterprise to participate in providing the public the best weather services in the world. We cannot do it without you.
