Integrating assessment of human health and ecosystem health

The sustained health of human populations requires maintaining the integrity of Earth's natural systems. Since ecosystems provide important pathways from a variety of stressors (e.g., climate change) to human health, one can't understand some health effects without also understanding the ecological cycle. Integrated assessment of human health and ecosystems can lead to more efficient and effective management of aggregate risks to public health and the environment. In many cases, extensive meteorological data are required for the development of models that are needed to conduct such integrated assessments.
