Impact of the Atlantic SST Anomalies on Russian Winter Snow Accumulation

Hengchun Ye, University of Idaho, Moscow, ID

. The Russian winter snow accumulation is found to be associated with Atlantic SST anomaly at two modes: quasi-decadal time scale of around 11.8 years and inter-decadal time scale of about 20 years and longer. The first mode is mostly found in the snow depth over European Russia, Eastern Siberia and Central Siberia that is related to the middle and high latitude Atlantic SST anomaly. The second mode is the opposite variation patterns between the south and the north of Russia and is associated with the tropical Atlantic SS
