Using Realtime Unidata Products in the Verner Suomi Virtual Museum

Thomas M. Whittaker, CIMSS/Univ. of Wisconsin, Madison, WI; and S. Ackerman

During 1999, we began construction of a Web-based virtual museum dedicated to Professor Verner Suomi. While designed to highlight the many aspects of his life's work and to educate people about his accomplishments, it contains many highly-interactive models and experiments for visitors to experiment with. A portion of those use the realtime data available through the Unidata project's Internet Data Distribution system, in order to provide the essential connection to the "real world". We will present an introduction to the museum, and highlight those aspects that make use of products and software available from Unidata.
