Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC), Monterey, CA is the Navy's operational satellite data processing hub for DMSP and Shared Processing Program (SPP) data & products. As such, FNMOC emphasis includes processing satellite data for input to global, regional and tactical scale meteorology and oceanography numerical analysis and forecast models.
This paper provides overview of FNMOC present and planned operational satellite data and product capabilities and use. Topics will include DMSP SSM/I and Vis/IR Processing, DMSP Image Generation System, Shared Processing Program, Scatterometry, RTOVS and ATOVS retrievals and radiances, Feature Tracking Winds from geostationary satellites and future plans for SSMIS and Coriolis.
