Applications of AWIPS in Fire Weather Forecasting

The introduction of AWIPS has provided a powerful tool for Fire Weather Forecasting. This paper will provide examples of proceedures and imagery available using AWIPS for analysis of data and information relevant to forecasting specific to Fire management and control operations. The paper will also discuss how AWIPS has improved the forecaster's ability to interpret the atmosphere and provide timely information to Fire mangers for planning fire suppression and ecosystem management activities.
