A Proposed Solar-Terrestrial Coupling Mechanism for Inducing Weekly to Monthly Synoptic Changes and Decadal Climate Variations

A solar-terrestrial mechanism is proposed using heating by solar ultraviolet radiation. The proposed mechanism has the capacity to support weekly (3-5 day), monthly (28-day), and decadal (11-year) variations in tropospheric weather. The mechanism is developed relative to vertical motions in the atmosphere that are consistent with solar ultraviolet output on the stated timescales. Previously published literature and studies are used as evidence to support the proposed mechanism. Testable predictions of effects that should be seen if the mechanism is valid are posed.
A detailed discussion of the proposed mechanism and its general impacts on tropospheric and stratospheric circulation will be addressed. Preliminary data analyses of the mechanism will be briefly discussed. The dynamics of solar ultraviolet heating impacts on tropospheric circulations will be discussed.
