A meteorological sensor data integration technique (Part I)

Gail-Tirrell Vaucher, Army Research Laboratory, White Sands Missle Range, NM; and E. Creegan, S. Elliott, D. Quintis, J. Yarbrough, and R. Brown

The Army Research Laboratory’s Meteorological Measuring Set – Profiler prototype (MMS-P[P]) integrates a Wind Profiling Radar, a polar orbiting Meteorological Satellite data receiver, a radiometer and a surface sensor. Rawinsonde measurements are also able to be acquired. This article will review a data integration technique used to construct the timely local meteorological profiles from the research and development version of the MMS-P prototype. A sample of data results from this technique and the lessons learned will also be presented.
