Midwest Subregional Modeling: 1-Hour Attainment Demonstration

The Lake Michigan States are performing subregional photochemical grid modeling in the Midwest to support the development of a 1-hour attainment strategy for the Lake Michigan region. The attainment demonstration will include alternative photochemical models, multiple ozone episodes, and consideration of air quality data. In addition, the modeling will be used to provide a preliminary attainment assessment for the 8-hour ozone standard. The purpose of this paper is to present the modeling and air quality analysis results and to discuss their use in the regional attainment demonstration
