A Millennium Symposium on Atmospheric Chemistry: Past, Present, and Future of Atmospheric Chemistry

P1.17

OPAC-Derived Examination of Gulf Aerosols

Paul J. Croft, Jackson State University, Jackson, MS; and R. Guyton

A preliminary analysis of aerosol distributions, sources and sinks, and their variations, is in progress for the Gulf of Mexico region. These are compared with results of the OPAC software calculations of the expected optical properties of the Gulf Coastal Zone atmosphere and compared with satellite observations. The model results will be presented with regard to the various initializations and input parameter selections as appropriate to the region. The significance and impact of these, in terms of weather elements and regimes, will be discussed.
