Arctic Oscillation and its impact on US climate
Julian X. L. Wang, NOAA/ERL/ARL, Silver Spring, MD
Variations of northern hemisphere jetstreams have large impacts on energy transfer between tropics and mid-high latitudes and therefore on variability of the staionary waves. Paper analyzes both subtropical jet and polar night jet, and links their variations to global SST changes as well as climate anomalies over the US on two distinct modes, i.e., interannual mode and decadal mode.
