Synergie is the meteorological workstation of the operational forecaster developed by Météo France since 1989. Beyond sophisticated visualisation tools, Meteo-France introduces tools to help the forecasters formalize their expertise in order to feed a numerical data base. These tools will bring new methodologies as well as new computer technics to support co-operative work of remote forecasters. This data base is then ready to be used by any system aiming at preparing predefined layouts fitted to end users. Synergie has been operational since 1993. Since then 10 releases have been deployed over more than 43 sites and 200 workstations. Its regular improvements have raised Synergie to a powerful tool not only able to help an individual forecaster realise her/his daily work but also able to support any master plan of a meteorological service. Its tailorability allows to implement it as a standalone workstation for one position as well as a distributed system over remote locations connecting all the forecasters to a complex Meteorological Geographical Information System.
