Recently, the Atmospheric Science Group at Texas Tech has developed a collection of mobile instrument systems that enable fine-scale field measurements to be obtained. These systems include two portable 3.5 m towers and five mobile mesonet instrument packages that are designed in cooperation with the University of Oklahoma and NSSL to be compatible with their mobile mesonet. Data from the emerging West Texas Mesonet stations will also be integrated with the mobile systems to enrich the dataset.
This paper will emphasize our strategy for coordinating data acquisition in the field. In addition, a case study of data collected from a thunderstorm outflow event on 11 June 2000 will be presented.
