Supporting the Data Needs of the Coastal Community II—Hurricane Floyd Post-Event

Sharon LeDuc, U.S. EPA and NOAA/ARL, Research Triangle Park, NC

The State of North Carolina sustained extensive damage to fragile coastal environments as a result of Hurricane Floyd. The Environmental Protection Agency is working with local communities to establish the tools necessary to predict the effects on water quality from runoff associated with major storms such as Hurricane Floyd. The coastal data and information required to support the development of such tools as well as post-event analysis will be discussed.
