Wind field experiment using numerical model in Seoul, Korea

Kyung-On Boo, MRI, Seoul, Korea; and K. J. Park and S. N. Oh

Urban activity changes land covering, which modifies the micro-scale air circulation in Seoul. The wind field is important since it gives an influence on the ventilation and air pollution occurrence in the city. To understand the air circulation in Seoul, wind field experiments are carried out using numerical model and the results are compared with Automatic Weather Station observation data. And we simulate the wind flows in densely built-up regions in Seoul and investigate the wind field change due to the urbanization. In this study, we can find the useful information to create the optimum climate conditions in the city.
