Supporting Interagency Collaboration through the Global Change Data and Information System (GCDIS): Distributed Systems

The Global Change Data and Information System (GCDIS), http://www.globalchange.gov, lends itself to the implementation of "distributed systems". Most of the participating agencies have been experimenting with the concept within their own agencies for several years. Sharing ideas and identifying the most effective implementations for a Federal agency view of Earth science data and services is a goal for GCDIS.
