The Indian Ocean Experiment (INDOEX) Intensive Field
Phase was conducted over the tropical Indian Ocean during
February and March 1999. High resolution rawinsonde data
were collected from a variety of facilities during INDOEX,
including ships, land, and aircraft. Intercomparisons were
carried out when different facilities released soundings in
close proximity to one another in space and time. Results
from these intercomparisons will be presented, including
comparisons within the full sounding dataset, among the
various facilities, and for representative case studies. It is hoped to also have results from intercomparisons of the
sounding data with initial analyses from the ECMWF, NOGAPS,
and FSU global models.
