DataStreme: a distance-learning teacher enhancement model that works!

The DataStreme Project Distance-Learning Training Model has shown that technology and innovative people can deliver engaging and personalized national-scale enhancement programs to teachers wherever they are. In six years, the NSF-funded DataStreme distance-learning course focusing on studying the weather as it happens has trained 5,800 teachers in practically every state and several other countries. This Project demonstrates how successful teacher training can be accomplished via a collegial partnership among the American Meteorological Society, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, SUNY College at Brockport, and hundreds of precollege teacher resource agents (AERAs), college faculty members, and meteorologists who serve on DataStreme Local Implementation Teams. DataStreme evaluation results will be presented. Finally, the effect of DataStreme will be reviewed in the context of the American Meteorological Society's Leadership Development Model.
