Graphical weather products at the Newport/Morehead City NC National Weather Service (NWS) Forecast Office

Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service provide customers with predictions of meteorological parameters significant to day-to-day living. In an effort to support the National Weather Service's strategic plan and its goal of providing graphical forecast products, the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Newport/Morehead City, NC has been creating graphical representations of several different forecasts.
Graphical forecast products are generated both maunally and by computer. The computer generated graphics use various programs to read issued forecasts, create the necessary HTML files, and upload them to the Internet homepage server. These programs run automatically on the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS). In addition, several manually created graphics are being generated locally by the forecasters.
This paper will show the graphics that are available, describe how they are created, and explain how a National Weather Service office can generate them locally. It will also present future plans for graphical forecasts.
