Technical Considerations For the Installation and Use of D3D in an AWIPS Environment
Philip A. McDonald, NOAA/FSL, Boulder, CO; and P. T. McCaslin, E. J. Szoke, and U. H. Grote
When considering the installation and use of D3D in an AWIPS environment, system administrators and users may have many questions. What hardware, operating system, and software does D3D require? What system resources will D3D use and what impact will that have on other AWIPS applications? What impact will D3D have on the AWIPS network? What data will D3D display? How can D3D case data be saved? How can D3D's data source be altered to allow the display of local model or case data? This discussion will address these and other technical aspects of the D3D application.
