Using VISITview for international weather briefings and real-time data collaborations
Tom Whittaker, CIMSS/Univ. of Wisconsin, Madison, WI; and A. Mostek, J. Wilson, and M. DeMaria
The VISITview teletraining software developed for the National Weather Service has been used to enable the delivery of long-distance seminars when the intstructor could not be physically present at the meeting. It has also been used to give a global, real-time satellite weather data briefing using four briefers scattered around the globe during the APSATS conference. The live weather briefing used various loops of imagery from four geostationary satellites. This paper will summarize these experiences, and present a short tutorial on how easy it is to use VISITview in this manner.
