ECMWF Metview on a laptop

J Daabeck, ECMWF, Reading, Berks., United Kingdom; and R. Bonifacio, V. Karhila, F. Ii, S. Lamy-Thepaut, and A. Jørgensen

Metview is ECMWF's meteorological data visualisation and processing tool with a complete working environment for the operational and research meteorologist. WMO GRIB and BUFR standard data sets can be visualised in the Cylindrical, Mercator, Polar Stereographic, Lambert, Aithoff and Satellite projections. Metview macros, with powerful meteorological processing capabilities, can be used interactively and in batch mode for routine production of maps in PostScript, JPEG and PNG formats. Metview is a modular portable system and is available on Unix platforms including Linux.

The presentation will give an update on the latest developments and include a demonstration of Metview running on a laptop.
