Pre– and post–sea breeze frontal lines –A meso–ă scale analysis over south Israel
A meso-gamma scale observational analysis of the fine surface structure of the sea-breeze fronts (SBF, in brevity) over the coast of s. Israel, is presented. Objective criteria for the SBF passage are derived based on wind speed/direction, temperature and humidity. A realization of a computerized detection system for SBF, is described.
Preliminary results indicate that except from the primary SBF there are significant and consistent pre/post frontal lines. The surface structure of these lines are shown, and are related to earlier theoretical studies of the SBF forerunners and Kelvin-Helmholz waves.
Although the pre/post frontal lines are important for pollutant transport, human comfort and better theoretical understanding of the SBF, they were not sufficiently described or investigated in the SBF literature.
